Soil Sampling in LANDMARC – Watch Our Video
Many LANDMARC case studies are undertaking soil sampling, to gain a better understanding of microbial processes within the soil and how these effect carbon mitigation. In agricultural systems, soil microbes are directly associated with soil carbon because of the essential role they play in residue decomposition and nutrient cycling.
In LANDMARC, soil samples are collected by case study partners from the study areas and returned to our partner Bioclear earth for analysis. The data produced will be combined with remote-sensing observations, allowing us to obtain a more complete picture of the impact of the land use technologies on carbon sequestration and its effect on climate change.
As soil sampling is such a key component of our case studies, we have produced a video to explain the techniques in more depth, which you can watch in our soil sampling article on the climatechangemitigation.eu platform.
